Dehumidifiers and humidifiers for the home

In all periods of the environments where you live should provide a microclimate without excessive changes in temperature and a comfortable level of humidity. Indeed, the humidity is a factor which, in addition to temperature, affects the welfare body. Then the air of the house may be dry or too humid and is influenced from outside. 

In particular, the relative humidity is the percentage the amount of water vapor in air, calculated by reference to the maximum that can be contained in a kilogram of air. Below 45% relative humidity, the air is dry. The consequences are possible electric shock due to "static, the heavy breathing and skin irritation while above 65% relative humidity, the air is moist and holds little water. The consequences are mold and bad odors in the home and stains on walls and furniture. 

To overcome these problems, there are appliances for the treatment of air that make the home environment healthier and more liveable, and that can keep the humidity at appropriate levels in a natural way. In essence, we can draw on a dehumidifier or a humidifier, devices which are usually adjustable and programmable or more functions. 

Relative humidity and absolute humidity 

The air of closed rooms contains a certain quantity of water in the form of steam, partly also emitted from the body and produced by respiration. If this value is too high or too low, the air becomes less breathing and appears to face hotter or colder. 

The parameters that may indicate the amount of water in the air are: 

the absolute humidity, which indicates the amount of water, in grams, present in a kilogram of air; 

relative humidity, which corresponds to the ratio in percentage between the amount of water in a kilogram of air and the maximum quantity of water that a kilogram of air can hold. 

To assess whether the environment has a satisfactory degree of moisture must be considered as the relative value. The ideal relative humidity for the health of people and the conservation is between 45% and 65%, meaning that it must prowling around 55%. To stay healthy in winter can fluctuate between 43 and 53%. 

Humidity is too low, around 30-40%, often due to the heat too high, making the dry air and static electricity, causing burning thirst and facilitates the proliferation of bacteria responsible for respiratory tract inflammation. If the heating is too low and the percentage of steam rises above 55-60%, the environment becomes cold and unhealthy, while the cold wall develops, which over time turns into patches of mold while the body perspiration is hard to disperse in the air and remains on the skin.
